Last night I was invited to the presentation of the new spring summer collection of Amy Gee. The event was held at First Floor in Missori Square, in Milan. After entering we moved to the second floor. White leather benches placed were adjacent to each other and in the center of the room there was a soft white carpet lit by two magnificent green chandeliers green, a beautiful stained glass window from which you could see the city was the icing on the cake.

At one point the music turns on and the models begin to slip. Although they are past fifty years, the Dolce Vita come back on the catwalk and do it in style. The collection is inspired by ’60s: white blouses, jackets, tapered pants and straw hats back in time to years of Jacqueline Kennedy, Sophia Loren and Brigitte Bardot. And just when the fashion show seems to have concluded, started the presentation of minidress with optical prints, jeans, colored leggings and fashion t-shirts on the musical notes of a song by the Rolling Stones.

The line is young and fun. Romantic and simple dresses alternate with more aggressive and determined, the brand Amy Gee has once again hits the mark, the collection is very beautiful and sophisticated.

Ieri sera sono stata invitata alla presentazione della nuova collezione del marchio Amy Gee, un brand nato da poco ma con tutte le carte in regola per avere successo. L’evento si è tenuto presso il locale First Floor in Piazza Missori a Milano.

Dopo essere entrati e aver sorseggiato un buon bicchiere di vino rosso ci siamo spostati al secondo piano. Panche bianche in pelle poste una vicina all’altra lasciavano spazio a un morbido tappeto bianco illuminato da due splendidi lampadari verdi. Ciliegina sulla torta: una splendida vetrata da cui si poteva ammirare la città.

Ad un certo punto la musica si accende e sulle note di una romantica canzone le modelle incominciano a sfilare. Nonostante siano passati ben cinquant’anni la Dolce Vita torna prepotentemente sulle passerelle e lo fa in grande stile. La collezione è ispirata allo stile Capri anni ’60, camicette in lino, giacche sciancrate, pantaloni alla pescatora e cappelli di paglia riportano indietro nel tempo agli anni di Jaqueline Kennedy, Sofia Loren e Brigitte Bardot. E proprio quando la sfilata sembra essersi conclusa ecco che una carrellata di minidress con stampe optical, jeans lavorati, leggings colorati e t-shirt stampate ti riportano ai giorni nostri sulle note degli intramontabili Rolling Stone.

La linea è giovane, completa e divertente. Abiti romantici e semplici si alternano a vestiti più aggressivi e decisi, il brand Amy Gee ha ancora una volta c’entrato nel segno creando una collezione davvero bella e sofisticata.

A few days ago we talked about one of the trends of spring: the denim. Last night while I’m surfing the Net I’ve noticed these photo shoot dedicated to this material. Among handbags, skirts, shirts, shoes, trousers and waistcoat there is spoiled for choice!

Qualche giorno fa abbiamo parlato di uno dei trend della prossima stagione: il denim. Ieri sera mentre navigavo in internet ho scoperto questo servizio fotografico interamente dedicato a questo tessuto. Fra borse, gonne, camicie, scarpe, pantaloni è gilet c’è proprio l’imbarazzo della scelta!

Perhaps not everyone knows the eclectic figure of Philip Treacy, the mad hatter which has conquered all the fashionistas who love the genre. He is a young and talented designer and, as in one of the classic fairy tail, he comes from a large and poor family (her father was a baker and he has 8 siblings) and when he was a child he learned to sew and since then he has not stopped to do it!

He is graduate of the prestigious Royal College of Art in London, he was noticed by Isabella Blow (among other things she discovered a lot of talented people like Alexander McQueen) and since the 90’s he has become famous: we has won the award for ” Best British Accessories Designer” for five consecutive years and he has collaborated with prestigious fashion houses such as Versace, Alexander McQueen, Givenchy, Thierry Mugler, Dior, Valentino and Chanel.

So you can forget about staid and boring hats because those of Philip Treacy are absolutely magical, fantasy and beautiful (in only a word: WOW): lace, flowers, geometric and architectural forms and feathers. All this and much more is Treacy.

Of course, maybe not everyone can feel completely at ease with these hats, but listen to me and let yourself go, don’t be scared to wear a particular hat, buy it and personalized your style!

Forse non tutti conoscono l’eclettica figura di Philip Treacy, il cappellaio matto che dall’Irlanda a Londra è sbarcato sulle teste delle fashion victim amanti del genere! Stilista giovane e talentuoso, come in una tra le più classiche delle favole proviene da una famiglia molto numerosa e povera (padre fornaio e ben 8 fratelli),ma fin da piccolo impara a tener l’ago in mano,e per fortuna non ha più smesso!

Laureato alla prestigiosa Royal College of Art di Londra e notato dall’ icona internazionale e sua futura musa Isabella Blow (la scopritrice tra l’altro di talenti del calibro di Alexander Mcqueen)a partire dai primi anni novanta il successo lo travolge: vincitore per ben cinque anni consecutivi del premio “Miglior stilista inglese di accessori dell’anno”,immediatamente le sue opere visionarie sono richiestissime sia da estrose clienti sia dalle collezioni di alta moda di Versace,Alexander McQueen,Givenchy,Thierry Mugler,Dior,Valentino,Chanel.

Scordatevi quindi i seriosi cappelli di una volta, quelli di Treacy sono un connubio di magica fantasia e haute couture: ovunque un trionfo di pizzi, piume, fiori,forme geometriche ed architettoniche che sfidano la gravità abbattendo il conformismo e le imposizioni dittatoriali di una volta,diventando il simbolo più alto di distinzione e anticonformismo,sempre,ovviamente, con un pizzico di eccentricità tutto British.

Certo, c’è da ammettere che pochi potrebbero sentirsi totalmente a proprio agio ad osare con dei cappelli così sfarzosi,ma mi appello al lato esibizionista che alberga in ognuna di noi:non abbiate paura di far rimanere tutti di stucco! Un cappello eccentric-style nel vostro guardaroba vi renderà, come disse un certo Shakespeare,“l’ammirazione e la meraviglia del vostro tempo”.

Si! Questo è un Editoriale con la “E” maiuscola! E’ colorato, forte, diverso…Mi piace! Sasha Pivvovarova è incredibile, penso sia una vera modella camaleontica, è capace di posare per qualsiasi servizio. So di essere ripetitiva ma adoro questo photo shoot. Voi cosa ne pensate? Vi piace?

It’s impossible not to be charmed by the beautiful art and tailoring work done by Riccardo Tisci for Givenchy Haute Couture, during the spring-summer 2010 fashion show. Intense colors, bright tissues, showy materials and wise sartorial development: these are the basic elements of the entire collection.

On the catwalk women, vaguely inspired by the seventies but with a dark and rock touch, thanks to a rather heavy make-up: bilayers eyes and scarlet lips. A woman who maintains all her seduction, even when she’s wearing a typically male rigorous tuxedo, played down by a top covered with feathers. The same feathers adorning skirts proposed with so constructed shirts in the warm powder tones and combined with over the knee black suede boots.

Then the collection moves toward impalpable dresses that recall another era, in which the lace rules. And from the dreamy atmosphere in which we fell, we wake up astonished thanks to a sparkling total look: optical electric blue pants and bolero, emerald green long dresses and purple jumpsuit. Grand final with real cloud-dresses in the purple tones.

E’ impossibile non rimanere affascinati dallo splendido lavoro artistico e sartoriale svolto da Riccardo Tisci per Givenchy, in occasione della sfilata Haute Couture primavera-estate 2010. Colori intensi, tessuti brillanti, materiali appariscenti e sapienti costruzioni sartoriali: questi gli elementi portanti dell’intera collezione.

In passerella una donna vagamente ispirata agli anni Settanta ma con un tocco dark e rock, grazie ad un make-up piuttosto carico: occhi bistrati e labbra scarlatte. Una donna che mantiene intatta tutta la sua seduzione anche quando indossa un rigoroso tuxedo tipicamente maschile, sdrammatizzato da un top ricoperto di piume. Le stesse piume che adornano gonne proposte con camicie molto costruite nei toni caldi della cipria e abbinate a stivali over the knee in suede nero.

La collezione evolve poi verso abiti impalpabili che ricordano altri tempi, nei quali la fa da padrone il pizzo. E dall’atmosfera da sogno nella quale ci siamo calati, ci risvegliamo stupiti grazie a total look scintillanti: pantaloni e boleri in fantasia optical blu elettrico, abiti lunghi verde smeraldo e purple jumpsuit. Gran finale con veri e propri abiti-nuvola nei toni del viola.

When I look these photos taken in Paris during the fashion week increase in me the desire to buy a soft faux fur! But the problem is finding the right one that doesn’t cost too much and doesn’t make me look like a yeti! Any ideas on where I can find a beautiful (and cheap) faux fur?

Quando guardo queste foto scattate durante la Paris Fashion Week la voglia di comprare una pelliccia (sintetica, of course!) aumenta! Il problema è riuscire a trovarne una non troppo cara e che non mi faccia sembrare uno yeti! Qualche idea su dove la posso trovare?

I don’t know about you, but to me not so long ago the word “tights” literally made me shiver, maybe because I always associated them with the boring black stockings or with flesh-color tights, or also maybe because when I was wearing tights I snagged them immediately. For these reasons I have exulted when have become fashionable leggings and thigh-highs. Of course, I must admit that very often I have risk to freeze but what can I do? As the saying goes “we have to suffer to be beautiful!”.

For many years the pantyhose have been ignored by designers but this winter they are back in fashion! They as seen not only on catwalks but also on magazines and on the street.
The biggest novelty is surely the return of sheer tights with light colors: ivory, pearl gray, white chalk. Prada created very elegant tights with jewels, pearls and little coloured stones for a look really bon ton.

Then there are animal print tights for a very sensual and strong effect, striped tights such as those from Alexander Mcqueen, vinyl tights for a perfect punk style, two-tone tights, polka dot tights, floreal tights and monogram tights such as those from Louis Vuitton and Chanel. And don’t forget the fishnet stockings!

Finally there are seamed tights for a very sesual look and the funny tights of the French brand “Les Queues de Sardines” if want to give a hint of irony at your outfit.

Non so voi, ma a me fino a poco tempo fa la parola “collant” faceva venire letteralmente i brividi: sarà che l’ho sempre associata a quelle noiose calze velate nere o –ORRORE!!- color carne che si vedono addosso a persone che ritengono sicuramente più importante l’utile al dilettevole; sarà che quando le indossavo le smagliavo in meno di due secondi….fatto sta che ho religiosamente ringraziato il mondo della Moda quando hanno iniziato a dilagare i pantacollant e,ancora meglio,le parigine. Certo, devo ammettere che sono andata incontro a principi di assideramento indossando entrambe le soluzioni,ma cosa ci vuoi fare?come dice il detto “chi bella vuol apparire un po’ deve soffrire”, no?

Questo inverno però è accaduta la rivelazione, i collant non demordono e non ci pensano nemmeno lontanamente a farsi sostituire dai loro rivali: eccoli difatti ricomparire prepotentemente sulle passerelle,nelle riviste,per strada…più trendy che mai!

La novità più spiazzante è sicuramente il ritorno dei collant lucidi e velatissimi con tonalità chiare:avorio,grigio perla,bianco gesso. Prada li rende ancora più raffinati e ricercati applicando cascate di gioielli,perle  e Strass, per un look davvero bon ton.

Sempre di tendenza sono le stampe animalier, che da cappotti e borse planano ruggenti anche sui collant,per un effetto davvero sensuale e forte; Mcqueen propone invece per le anime  più  “strong” i collant  strappati(sì strappati!addio terrore delle smagliature!) anche  in effetto vinile,ovviamente da indossare sdrammatizzandoli sapientemente, evitando di cadere nell’ effetto punk! E poi collant bicolore, a pois,floreali,monogrammate (come quelle proposte da Louis Vuitton e Chanel), e,udite udite,un clamoroso ritorno delle amate-odiate calze a rete!

Se vi piace lo stile delle dive di ieri e delle icone di oggi, come Mailyn Monroe e Dita Von Teese,non fatevi scappare  le sensualissime collant con la riga dietro (o a lato): vi regaleranno un tocco di autentica femminilità e seduzione tipicamente anni 40; e  se invece desiderate regalare un pizzico di ironia e umorismo in più alle vostre gambe date un’occhiata a quelle del marchio francese “Les Queues de Sardines”, non passerete di certo inosservate!

In this period I’m obsessed with long and smooth hair, maybe because my hair has never been so long (I’ve always worn my hair short) or maybe because I know that soon I’ll go for a haircut, the fact is that when I saw these pictures of the model Dorothea Barth Jorgensen I have fallen in love with her hair. They are charming.

Unfortunately I can never have them as her for three simple reasons:
- I have a mass of hair that is impossible to do anything (I look like Sideshow Bob!);
- my face is quite thin and long hair tend to accentuate this aspect;
- I don’t want to dry them: D

And also there is another important aspect: my hair has a brain. Yes! They are human beings! The day before going to the hairdresser they are always perfect, smooth and silky, they try to convince me not to cut them. Then the day after having cut them, they rebel and I can’t control them! I’m the slave of my hair!

It’s now for some time that I accepted these things so I can only see once again the hair of Dorothea and hope that this time my hair will not rebel!

In questo periodo sono ossessionata dai capelli lunghi e lisci. Sarà perché i miei capelli non sono mai stati così lunghi (li ho sempre portati corti) sarà perché so che tra poco dovrò andare a tagliarli, sta di fatto che quando ho visto queste foto della modella Dorothea Barth Jorgensen mi sono letteralmente innamorata dei suoi capelli. Sono incantevoli.

Purtroppo però io non potrò mai averli come i suoi per tre semplici motivi:
- ho una massa di capelli che molto spesso risulta difficile da gestire (assomiglio a Telespalla Bob!);
- il mio viso è abbastanza sottile e minuto e i capelli lunghi tendono ad accentuare questo aspetto;
- non ho voglia di asciugarli

Inoltre bisogna sottolineare un altro importantissimo aspetto: i miei capelli hanno un cervello, sono degli esseri pensanti! Il giorno prima di andare dal parrucchiere loro sono sempre perfetti, lisci e setosi, cercano di convincermi a non tagliarli. Il giorno dopo avergli tagliati per dispetto si ribellano e non riesco più a controllarli. Sono schiava dei miei capelli!

Ormai è già da tempo che ho accettato questi fatti quindi non mi resta che ammirare ancora una volta i capelli di Dorothea e sperare che questa volta i miei capelli mi vengano incontro!

Who thought that fur was a garment only dedicated to women should change his idea immediately. One of the trends that have been strongly imposed during the presentation of men’s fashion for the next autumn-winter 2010-2011 is precisely that of men’s furs.

D&G presented aviators-models with an easy style, made of oversize trousers, sports shoes, simple cardigans and jackets that hide, however, fine hair’s coating within them. Gianfranco Ferré, instead, has brought down the runway the real dandy that made of the elegance their strenght and the choice of a fur stole, vest or coat their hallmark. Gucci opted for a complete implementation of the classic woman fur into masculine one. Strangely, John Richmond has reduced the trend, confining it to small details like the coating of the jackets’ necks. At the end, Roberto Cavalli has suggested classic double-breasted coats and sports jackets adorned with warm fox’s necks.

However, the man who had very cold and was equipped with a sufficient dose of extravagance for the coming winter will be inspired by the Vivienne Westwood’s colorful and primitive models or the Moncler Gamme Bleu’s yeti-boy.

What do you think about this trend? I imagine that many of you are skeptics from both an ethical and aesthetic poin of view.

Chi pensava che la pelliccia fosse un capo dedicato alle sole donne dovrà ricredersi immediatamente. Una delle tendenze che si sono imposte con forza alla presentazione della moda uomo per il prossimo autunno-inverno 2010-2011 è proprio quella delle pellicce maschili.

D&G ha presentato modelli-aviatori con uno stile easy fatto di pantaloni oversize, scarpe sportive, semplici cardigan e giubbotti che nascondono, però, al loro interno pregiati rivestimenti di pelo.
Gianfranco Ferré ha portato invece in passerella dei veri e propri dandy che fanno dell’eleganza il loro punto di forza e della scelta di una stola, di un gilet o di un cappotto in pelliccia il loro segno distintivo.Gucci ha optato per una totale trasposizione della classica pelliccia da donna in versione maschile. Stranamente John Richmond ha ridimensionato il trend, confinandolo a piccoli dettagli come il rivestimento del collo dei giubbotti. Infine, Roberto Cavalli ha proposto classici cappotti doppiopetto e giubbotti sportivi arricchiti da caldi colli di volpe.

Comunque, l’uomo che avesse molto freddo e fosse dotato di una sufficiente dose di stravaganza per il prossimo inverno potrà ispirarsi ai modelli variopinti e primitivi di Vivienne Westwood o al ragazzo-yeti di Moncler Gamme Bleu.

Cosa ne pensate di questa tendenza? Immagino che molti di voi saranno scettici sia da un punto di vista etico che estetico.

I know that we are still in winter but I can’t stop thinking about spring and all that brings: flowers, sun, swallows, and of course the new must haves. For these reasons I created an article in two parts on the trends which will accompany us during the spring and summer. The proposals are very interesting, we can only choose which follow and which not. I hope you like it! Here’s the first part of the spring trends.

Lo so che siamo ancora in inverno ma io non riesco a smettere di pensare alla primavera e a tutto quello che porta con sé: fiori, sole, rondini e naturalmente nuovi must haves. Per questo motivo ho realizzato un articolo diviso in due parti sulle tendenze che ci accompagneranno durante la primavera e l’estate. Le proposte sono davvero interessanti, non ci resta che scegliere quali seguire e quali no. Ecco la prima parte delle prossime tendenze.

The clothes, as well as accessories, are very colorful. Colored prints, optical patterns and bizarre textures are the key words for next season. Balenciaga and Basso & Brooke propose items which seem to have been painted by some famous impressionist, Etro propose delicate pastel-colored dresses and Louis Vuitton and Vivianne Westwood interpret street style in version houte couture.

I vestiti, così come gli accessori, saranno un inno alla gioia. Stampe colorate, fantasie optical e texture che riportano indietro nel tempo sono le parole chiave della prossima stagione. Balenciaga e Basso & Brooke propongono completi che sembrano stati dipinti da qualche famoso impressionista, Etrò un delicato vestito dai colori pastello e Louis Vuitton e Vivianne Westwood reinterprano lo street style in versione houte couter.

From colored prints to military clothing. Christophe Decarnin, Charlotte Ronson and Chloé are just some of the many designers who, drawing inspiration from military jackets and camouflage stuff, have created clothes worthy of a true warrior. The city turns into a real jungle!

Dalle stampe colorate si passa all’abbigliamento militare. Christophe Decarnin. Charlotte Ronson e Chloé sono solo alcuni dei tanti designer che, traendo spunto dalle giacche militari e dalle tute mimetiche, hanno creato capi degni di una vera guerriera. Altro che metropoli, la città si trasforma in una vera jungla!

Fading clothes and angelic colors for Fendi and Louis Goldin. Playing with materials, shake and overlaps they created soft dresses and tops that seem to bloom like flowers in spring.

Vestiti evanescenti e colori angelici per Fendi e Louis Goldin che giocando con i materiali, le forme e le sovrapposizioni hanno creato morbidi vestiti e top che sembrano sbocciare come i fiori in primavera.

And finally the designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana propose a return to tradition. Dark clothes, corsets, laces and embroideries. The two young designers reinterpreting the traditional italian costumes in a modern way for an effect that really leaves you speechless.

E per finire gli stilisti Stefano Dolce e Domenico Gabbana propongono un ritorno alle tradizioni. Abiti scuri, corsetti, pizzi e merletti. I due giovani stilisti rispolverano i costumi tradizionali reinterpretandoli in chiave moderna, per un effetto che lascia davvero a bocca aperta.
