Melissa Zino. 27 years old. A degree in Communication Sciences and a specialization in Brand Management.

Fashion, art and design addict, when she doesn’t work for the family business, she writes for Pigchic and her blog, A bit of fashion, she pets her dog Ottone, and she creates hand made jewellery and glamour t-shirts.

I met Melissa a month ago in Milan, and while we were eating two delicious sandwiches we chatted about fashion, travels and future projects. Besides being bright and friendly, Melissa has also a true “taste of glamour” and a passion for clothes and accessories. All these qualities enabled her to enter on our column Style icon.

In her blog you can find not only fashion ideas, but also a lot of curiositys, advises and tips. From tomorrow Melissa will open her shop, A bit of shopping, and I give you an advice: visit her shop because is full of beautiful creations!

1. Your blog has been opened only a few weeks ago and is much appreciated, what do you think is due to this success?

First of all, some credit is due to the woman behind the camera, Manuela of Lovo Design. Secondly, I believe that success stems from the fact that reflected my passion for fashion and my desire to want to communicate my style and my world. The rest I could not say, I am just as you see in pictures and I must thank all my readers for their warm support.

2. How and where was born the idea to create accessories and t-shirts?

Since I was a child I created necklaces and bracelets and I have always had a particular aptitude for drawing. So, once grown, I realized that I wanted to suggest to others what I could do. Combining all this with my passion for fashion are achieved accessories and t-shirts that you see in my outfits. Of course behind all this there is a person who has been and continues to be a great source of inspiration and a style and elegance icon for me, my mother.

3. What are the clothes you never give up?

I could answer heels, jeans or a bag, but what I never give up is not a garment, but is one of my passions, mixing together branded clothes and accessories with low-cost and handmade pieces. I love Chanel like H&M, Topshop as Dior, Fendi like American Apparel, Forever 21 as Gucci, Louis Vuitton as Urban Outfitters, not forgetting my t-shirts and my jewellery.

4. What are your sources of inspiration?

In truth I haven’t a  well defined sources of inspiration. Sure, I read many fashion, design and art magazines, I explore the web that for all fashion bloggers is an invaluable resource, I attend fashion events, I travel for discovering other cultures, but above all I’m curious about everything. My eyes are like a camera that records every detail and, at the appropriate moment, it reworks them. It’s difficult that something happens in my life without asking me what it is and what it is used for.

5. What are your favourite bag and pair of shoes?

Maybe this is the most difficult question. I’m in love with all my shoes and my bags. Every purchase is tied to a memory and to a particular moment of my life and that is why I jealously guards them. I love my little collection so much that sometimes I almost regret wearing some pieces for fear of damaging them. It seems strange but what gives me most satisfaction is seeing them all together in my closet! However if I have to do a ranking, I choose Chanel for bags and Louboutin for shoes.

6. What about the world of beauty, what are your favourite products?

I love to take care of myself and I do almost always alone. Except for the hairdresser I don’t attend beauty centers and beauty farms. On the other hand I spent so many hours in perfumery to choose various products. I mainly invest on skincare, cleansers, creams, serums and masks. Regarding the make-up, in my beauty there are a good foundation, black mascara, eye pencil, fard  and the always present cocoa butter, I could not live without!

7. What advice would you give to girls who want to create a blog where post their outfits?

Although I am just starting and I personally need so many tips, but I’m feel to make a suggestion: don’t be afraid to dare and to get out of the box, the only way to get good results. It  isn’t a secret that most successful fashion bloggers are foreign, so when I decided to create my own blog I had no doubt about the model to follow, even if it meant turning away from the typically italian canons and adopt a more international vision.

8. Last question, in these months we can say that you have made giant steps, you opened your own blog and you’re about to usher in the online shop, do you have other plans for the future?

When I think about how fast it happened in my life in this last period I still can’t believe. I have several projects in my mind, though for now my goal is to grow up my blog and my own shop online, improving them day after day and for the future who knows, keep on following me and you’ll find out!

1. Il tuo blog è stato inaugurato solo poche settimane fa ed è già molto apprezzato, a cosa pensi sia dovuto questo successo?

Innanzitutto parte del merito è da attribuire a colei che sta dietro l’obiettivo della macchina fotografica, Manuela di Lovo Design. In secondo luogo credo che il successo derivi dal fatto che traspare la mia grande passione per la moda e la mia volontà di voler comunicare il mio stile ed il mio mondo. Il resto non lo saprei dire, io sono così come mi vedete in foto e devo ringraziare tutti i miei lettori per il loro caloroso supporto.

2. Come e dove è nata l’idea di creare accessori e t-shirts?

Fin da bambina creavo collanine e braccialetti ed ho sempre avuto una particolare predisposizione per il disegno. Così, una volta cresciuta mi sono resa conto che avevo voglia di proporre anche agli altri ciò che ero in grado di fare. Unendo tutto ciò alla mia grande passione per la moda ne sono conseguiti gli accessori e le t-shirts che vedete nei miei outfits. Ovviamente dietro a tutto ciò c’è una persona che è stata e continua ad essere una grande fonte di ispirazione nonché maestra di stile ed eleganza, mia madre.

3. Quali sono i capi a cui non rinunceresti mai?

Potrei rispondere i tacchi, i jeans o una borsa, ma quello a cui non rinuncerei mai non è tanto un capo, bensì una mia passione, quella di mixare abiti e accessori firmati con pezzi low-cost e di mia produzione. Adoro Chanel come H&M, Dior come Topshop, Fendi come American Apparel, Gucci come Forever 21, Louis Vuitton come Urban Outfitters, senza dimenticare le mie t-shirts ed i miei bijoux.

4. Quali sono le tue  fonti di ispirazione?

In verità non ho delle fonti di ispirazione ben definibili. Certo, leggo molte riviste di moda, design e arte, esploro il web che per noi fashion bloggers è una risorsa inestimabile, presenzio ad eventi di settore, viaggio alla scoperta di altre culture ma, sono soprattutto curiosa di tutto. I miei occhi sono come una telecamera che registra ogni particolare e, al momento opportuno lo rielabora. E’ difficile che qualcosa passi nella mia vita senza che io mi sia domandata cosa sia e a cosa serva.

5. La tua borsa e il tuo paio di scarpe preferite?

Forse questa è la domanda più difficile. Sono affezionata a tutte le mie scarpe e le mie borse. Ogni acquisto è legato ad un ricordo e ad un momento particolare della mia vita ed è per questo che le custodisco gelosamente. Amo talmente tanto la mia piccola collezione che a volte mi spiace quasi indossare alcuni capi per la paura di rovinarli. Sembrerà strano ma ciò che mi da più soddisfazione è vederle tutte insieme nella mia cabina! Comunque se proprio devo fare una classifica, scelgo Chanel per le borse e Louboutin per le scarpe.

6. E per quanto riguarda il mondo del beauty, quali sono i tuoi prodotti preferiti?

Amo prendermi cura di me stessa e lo faccio quasi sempre da sola. Ad eccezione del parrucchiere non frequento centri estetici e beauty farms. In compenso passo delle ore in profumeria a scegliere i vari prodotti. Investo soprattutto sullo skincare, detergenti, creme, sieri e maschere. Per quanto concerne il make-up nel mio beauty ci sono un buon fondotinta, un mascara nero, una matita per occhi, la terra e l’immancabile burro cacao, non potrei vivere senza!

7. Che consiglio daresti alle ragazze che vorrebbero creare un blog dove postare i loro outfits?

Anche se sono appena agli inizi e avrei bisogno io in prima persona di tanti consigli, mi sento comunque di dare un suggerimento: non devono aver paura di osare e di uscire dagli schemi, solo così si possono ottenere dei buoni risultati. Non è un mistero che le fashion bloggers di maggior successo siano straniere e, così, quando ho deciso di creare il mio blog non ho avuto nessun dubbio circa il modello da seguire, anche se questo comportava lo staccarsi dai canoni tipicamente italiani e adottare una visione più internazionale.

8. Ultima domanda, in questi mesi possiamo dire che hai fatto passi da gigante, hai aperto un tuo blog e stai per inaugurare lo shop online, hai altri progetti per il futuro?

Se penso a quanto veloci siano andate le cose nella mia vita in questo ultimo periodo non ci posso ancora credere nemmeno io. Progetti ne ho in testa parecchi, comunque per ora il mio obiettivo è quello di far crescere il mio blog così come il mio shop online, migliorandoli giorno dopo giorno e in un futuro chissà, continuate a seguirmi e lo scoprirete!
