There are very few cities I’d actually rather move to, and among them there’s New York for sure, the city that never sleeps. Unfortunalty I’ve never been there but I hope to make up for that in the near future as, besides being fraught with museums, skyscrapers and interesting places to visit, it’s also full of shops and department stores. Here’s a list of places you cannot miss if you’re in New York!

If you happen to be aorund Madison, Broadway and Soho go check Banana Republic out on 2360 Broadway, a well-known american store that sells casual and urban sporty clothes and accessories, American Eagle on 575 Broadway, another famous american urban sporty store, Old navy on 503 Broadway, a trendy and sporty store that is also budget friendly. Kmart on 770 Broadway, very peculiar store which is worth sneaking a peak for sure.

If you’re into a more romantic and dreamy look, don’t miss Anthropology out, on 375 West Broadway, a store stacked with one of a kind, romantic yet creative pieces of clothing, which also happens to sell furnishings. If you’re into vintage stuff instead, here’s when What comes around goes around comes into play. The store is located at 351 West Broadway and is indeed one of the Mecca of vintage shopping. Here’s where bloggers from Glamourai (which we cited beforehand) and Brook&Lynn do their vintage shopping.

Finally we have Jcrew, huge store that owes its fame mainly to their cachemire twinsets and Barneys on 660 Madison Avenue, one of the biggest department store worldwide, usually assaulted by Americans and not during sales.

In the so very posh 5th Avenue area we have Bergdorf Goodman, on 5th avenue, an exclusive department store that deals brands like Diane von Furstenberg, Oscar de la Renta e Michael Kors; Saks Fifth Avenue, on 5th avenue, another department store, whose 5th floos is entirely dedicated to emerging designers.

The Meatpacking District area you’ll find Jeffrey, on 449 West 14th street, a concept store packed with clothes and accessories from oustanding brands and stylish designers, Scoop on 875 Washington Street, a bookstore where you can buy clothing for men, women and kids. Destination a popular store that sells very selected and unique pieces from emerging designers.

Finally Stella Mc Cartney on 429 west 14thstreet, the acclaimed British designer’s monostore.

And lastly don’t miss St. Marks Place, between Third Avenue and Avenue A, the american Portobello. Among records, vintage accessories, second-hand clothes and fancy shoes you’ll surely lose your mind!

Sono veramente poche le città in cui andrei ad abitare e fra queste c’è sicuramente New York, la città che non dorme mai. Purtroppo non l’ho mai visitata e spero di farlo prossimamente perché oltre ad essere piena di musei, grattacieli e interessanti posti da visitare, è anche ricca di negozi e centri commerciali. Ecco la lista dei negozi che se andate a New York non potete assolutamente non visitare!

Se capitate nelle parti di Madison, Broadway e Soho andate a fare un giro da Banana Republic sulla 2360 Broadway, famosissimo store americano che vende capi e accessori casual e urban sporty, American Eagle sulla 575 Broadway, altro famoso store americano urban sporty, Old navy sulla 503 Broadway, negozio sportivo modaiolo giovane ed economico. Kmart, sulla 770 Broadway, negozio particolarissimo che merita di certo un’occhiata.

Se amate lo stile romantico e sognatore non lasciatevi sfuggire Anthropology sulla 375 West Broadway, un negozio ricco di abiti particolari, romantici e creativi che vende anche articoli per l’arredamento. Se invece siete appassionate di articoli vintage, What comes around goes around è quello che fa al caso vostro. Il negozio si trova sulla 351 West Broadway ed è una delle mecche del vintage shopping, ci fanno acquisti anche le blogger Glamourai (di cui abbiamo parlato qui) e Brook&Lynn.

Per finire, ci sono Jcrew, grandissimo store divenuto famoso soprattutto per i twinset in cachemire e Barneys sulla 660 Madison Avenue, uno dei più famosi grandi magazzini al mondo, preso d’assalto da americani e non durante i saldi.

Nella chicchissima zona di 5th Avenue ci sono Bergdorf Goodman, sulla 5th avenue, un esclusivo grande magazzino che vende griffe quali Diane von Furstenberg, Oscar de la Renta e Michael Kors; Saks Fifth Avenue, sulla 5th avenue, un altro famoso grande magazzino il cui 5° piano è interamente dedicato agli stilisti emergenti.

Nella zona di Meatpacking District troverete Jeffrey sulla 449 West 14th street, un concept store pieno di vestiti e accessori di importanti griffe e stilisti di tendenza, Scoop sulla 875 Washington Street, un negozi libreria dove potrete acquistare capi per donne, uomini e bambini. Destination, famoso negozio che vende capi e accessori selezionatissimi e pezzi unici di designer emergenti. Infine StellaMcCartney, sulla 429 west 14thstreet, monomarca della famosa stilista britannica.

Per concludere non lasciatevi scappare una visita a ST. Marks Place, tra la Third Avenue e la Avenue A, il Portobello americano. Fra dischi, accessori vintage, vestiti usati e scarpe stravaganti perderete sicuramente la testa!

Paris is one of my favorite cities, it’s truly magical and romantic. When I went to Paris some years ago I stayed in an old hotel in Rue Pigalle. Every night I went to the terrace of the building and admiring the city lit up, the view was very beautiful. And Paris is also full of interesting shops! For this reason I dediced to include this city in the column Where to buy… I hope you like it!

In Rue Etienne Marcel there are Kabuki (in 25 Rue Etienne Marcel) a shop full of clothes of young designers as well as most famous brands, Kiliwatch (in 64 Rue Tiquetonne) a concept store which also sells vintage clothes and accessories, the same store selling even books. Then there are Diab’less (in 62 Rue Tiquetonne) a very popular French brand, L’Eclaireur, (in 131-133 Rue de Valois, Palais Royal) a store full of clothes of the most famous maison and Marithè & Francois Girbaud (in 38 Rue Etienne Marcel).

In Marais there are Abou d’Abi Bazar (in 10 Rue des Francs Bourgeois) another shop which sells clothes and accessories of the most famous brands, Et Vous (in 6 Rue des Francs Bourgeois), Maje (in 9 Rue des Blanc Manteaus), a French brand, Lieu Commun (in 5 Rue des Filles du Calvair) a boutique which sells the creations of young designers and emerging artists.

In Saint Germain Des Pres there are Le Bon Marché (in 24 rue de Sevres) a department store full of designed clothes, Vanessa Bruno (in 25 Rue St Sulpice) a French brand, IRO (in 68 Rue des Sanits Peres) another French brand and Onward (in 147 bd St Germain) a playground for young and talented fashion designers..

Finally in Saint Honoré-La Madeleine there are Colette (in 213 Rue St Honoré) a famous concept store full of clothes and accessories, L’Eclaireur (in 10 Rue Boissy d’Anglas) an clothing stores and Galeries Lafayette (in 40 bd Haussmann) one of my favorite department stores ever.

Parigi è una delle mie città preferite, è magica e veramente romantica. Mi ricordo che quando sono andata a Parigi qualche hanno fa, ho alloggiato in un vecchio hotel in Pigalle. Ogni sera andavo sulla terrazza dell’edificio e ammiravo la città illuminata. La vista era stupenda. Inoltre Parigi è ricca di interessanti negozi quindi è per questo motivo che ho deciso di inserire questa città nella rubrica Where to buy…. Spero che l’articolo vi piaccia!

Nella zona di Rue Etienne Marcel ci sono: Kabuki (in 25 rue etienne marcel) un multimarca ricco di capi di giovani designer oltre che importanti griffe, Kiliwatch (in 64 rue Tiquetonne) un concept store che vende anche capi vintage, nello stesso negozio vendono anche libri. Infine nella zona di Saint Honorè- La Madeleine ci sono: Colette (in 213 Rue St Honorè) un famosissimo concept store, tappa fondamentale dello shopping parigino, L’Eclaireur (in 10 Rue Boissy d’Anglas) un concept store e le Galeries Lafayette (in 40 bd Haussmann) uno dei grandi magazzini che preferisco.

Unfortunately this time I’m studying for upcoming exams so I have little time to write to Pigchic. Despite this I decided to inaugurate a new column: Where to buy … dedicated to the best shops in major European cities such as Milan, Rome, Paris, London, Berlin, Madrid, … A small guide which you consult when you are leaving or just to know stores which ignored the existence. I hope you like it!

Purtroppo in questo periodo sto studiando molto per via degli imminenti esami quindi ho poco tempo da dedicare a Pigchic. Nonostante questo ho deciso di inaugurare una nuova rubrica: Where to buy… dedicata ai migliori negozi delle principali città europee quali Milano, Roma, Parigi, Londra, Berlino, Madrid,… Una piccola guida da consultare quando state per partire o semplicemente per conoscere negozi di cui ignoravate l’esistenza. Spero vi piaccia!

One of the most famous shops in the city is 10 Corso Como, a concept store full of clothes, accessories and design objects. The shop is located in one of the busiest areas of the city, especially at night because of the several clubs, inside a courtyard where there is also a cafe (a little bit expensive!) and an art gallery.

Then there are Frip, in 16 Porta Ticinese Street (near Duomo), a very popular store which sells the creations of Scandinavian and British designers, more than magazines and records. Purple, a shop full of clothes and accessoriess in sporty chic style.

Made in the Shade, in  53 Ripa di Porta Ticinese, a shop which sells its own line, Local Apparel, and creations by Isabel Marant. In the same area there is Antonioli, in Pasquale Paoli Street, a shop which sells clothes and accessories of important maison such as Balmain, Dries Van Noten and Martin Margiela.

Moving in the heart of the artists quarter, Brera, there are the La vetrina di Beryl, in 4 Statuto Street. The shop is full of original and beautiful clothes and accessories. In the same area there is also Tad, a concept store which will leave you speechless.

Uno dei più famosi negozi della città è 10 Corso Como, un concept store ricco di vestiti, accessori e oggetti di design e per la casa. Situato in una delle zone più frequentate della città, soprattutto di sera per via delle numerose discoteche, il negozio si trova all’interno di una corte dove è presente anche una caffetteria (un po’ cara!) e uno galleria d’arte.

Poi ci sono Frip, in corso di Porta Ticinese 16 (vicino Piazza Duomo) un negozio molto apprezzato che vende le creazioni di stilisti scandinavi e inglesi oltre che magazines e dischi. Purple, un negozio pieno di vestiti e accessori sporty chic.

Made in the shade, in Ripa di Porta Ticinese 53, un negozio che vende una propria linea, Local Apparel, e creazioni di Isabel Marant. Nella stessa zona c’è Antonioli, in via Pasquale Paoli, un negozio che vende vestiti griffati di importanti maison quali Balmain, Dries Van Noten e Martin Margiela.

Spostandoci nel cuore del quartiere degli artisti, Brera, ci sono La vestrina di Beryl, in via Statuto 4. Mecca delle fashioniste più incallite il negozio è pieno di vestiti e accessori ricercati ed originali. Nella stessa zona c’è anche Tad, un concept store che vi lascerà a bocca aperta.

Don’t forget to Zap, in 33 Quintiliano Street, a former industrial warehouse in’800 style, eldest son of MiniZap in 2 Solferino Street. The shop is full of clothes and accessories of different brands, including vintage clothes, more than interior design and home accessories. Vintage Spirit, in 3 Cantore Sq., where you will find carefully selected vintage clothing and accessories for women and men and last but not least Clan and Clan Cafe, in 9 Pontaccio Street, a clothing store and fashion cocktail bar.

Non dimenticatevi di Zap, in via Quintiliano 33, un ex capannone industriale di ben 500 mq ristrutturato in stile ‘800, figlio maggiore di MiniZap in via Solferino 2. Il negozio è pieno di capi e accessori di marchi diversi, anche vintage,  oltre che mobili e complementi d’arredo. Vintage Spirit, in piazza Cantore 3, dove troverete abiti e accessori vintage selezionatissimi e dulcis in fundo Clan e Clan Cafè, in via Pontaccio 9, un negozio di abbigliamento e fashion cocktail bar.
