One of my favorite top models, Gemma Ward, has decided to retire from the fashion industry, she has no intentions of returning to modelling. This is a little tribute to a real style icon.

Ho appena scoperto che una della mie modelle preferite, Gemma Ward, ha deciso di ritirarsi dalle passerelle, non ha più intenzione di sfilare sul catwalk. Questo è un piccolo tributo a una modella che considere una vera style icon.

When I saw her for the first time on the glossy pages of a fashion magazine I exclaimed: “she is a true fashionista!” She is Caroline Sieber, she was born in Austria but she lives in London and she is one of the stylist of the moment.

There is no party in which she is not invited and there is no celebrity who does not know her name. She is condidered a fashion guru, you just have a look at her outfits to understand why. Her nude look is characterised by simple and extremely elegant items which are mixes from time to time with particular clothes or accessories such as leather shorts (must have for next season) or bondage style black sandals. Finally the few- carefully selected accessories complete her sophisticated, not excessive and always perfect style!.

In an interview, when she was asked to define her personal style, she said she did not particularly love too flashy and sexy clothing but she prefers simple items and particular accessories such as leather belts and aggressive shoes.

I love her style, is chic-without-frills, I think she is one of those fashionista to be taken for example from which we have much to learn!

Quando l’ho vista per la prima volta sulle pagine patinate di un fashion magazine ho esclamato: “questa è una vera fashionista!”. Lei è Caroline Sieber, è nata in Austria ma vive a Londra ed è una delle stiliste del momento.

Non c’è party in cui lei non sia invitata e non c’è celebrità che non conosca il suo nome. Nel fashion system è considerata una vera guru della moda, basta guardare i suoi outfits per capire il perché. Il suo look acqua e sapone caratterizzato da capi semplici ed estremamente eleganti si mescola di tanto in tanto con vestiti o accessori dal taglio rock come gli shorts in pelle (must have della prossima stagione) o i sandali neri in stile bondage. Gli accessori, pochi e accuratamente selezionati, e l’allure da ragazza della porta accanto completano il suo stile raffinato, non eccessivo e sempre perfetto.

Durante una intervista, quando le è stato chiesto di definire il suo stile personale, lei stessa ha detto di non amare particolarmente i vestiti troppo appariscenti e sexy ma di preferire abiti meno vistosi messi in risalto da accessori quali cinture in pelle e scarpe aggressive.

Adoro i suo stile chic-senza-troppi-fronzoli, sono convinta che sia una di quelle fashioniste da prendere ad esempio e dai cui abbiamo molto da imparare!

She is Veronica Ferraro, a young girl which lives in Milan and studies literature at the University of Milan. She loves watching Lost (me too!) and recently she opened a blog, The Fashion Fruit,  which has already proved very successful.

She has a very “taste of glamour” and her blog is full not only of photos about her outfit but also fashion and trend news, for these reason I decided to interview her. I hope you like it!

1. You study literature at Milan, you like photography and fashion and you love watching Lost. Tell us something about you that we do not know…
I adore writing, especially in the evening, which is when I’m most inspired. The first blog I started is actually a collection of my writings, and only recently I thought about starting another one about fashion. I really love sushi and cinema, which are also my ideal night out, perhaps with my boyfriend or my great friends. “When I grow up” I would like to put together my interests about fashion and writing, becoming a fashion editor. This blog is just the first, shy, step towards this direction. And it is very promising!

2. Why did you choose “Fashion Fruit” as title of your blog?
I have a wild passion for drinks (soft drinks, and sometimes also alcoholic ones if it’s the right moment) with passion fruit. I wanted a name which had to be both simple and effective, playful and that told something about myself at the same time. When it came to my mind to replace passion with fashion, it seemed so adequate and right on spot that I immediately discarded all of the alternatives.

3. You love customize your clothes and accessories, how come you have this passion? An what is your last creation?
I find the very idea of being, if you allow me the term, “stylists” for oneself to be the most immediate and effective way to give my outfits that personal touch everyone is looking for and can’t achieve. Customizing an item of clothing or an accessory is usually quick and cheap and wearing something I tweaked myself gives me a gratification far away from what I have buying something that everyone else can have. The last time I looked at Balmain, which I adore and always follow with great interest, and added a pair of rigid shoulder pads to a dress, mimicking its style.

4. What is your favorite song?
Stairway to heaven, a timeless classic, in the original take by Led Zeppelin. Many other beautiful songs come and go, but this one is always a hit.

5. Which fashion magazine you read most often?
If I have to strictly consider the frequency with which I read magazines, the first place goes undoubtfully to Vogue. Every time I can, however, I try to find something more peculiar like Numéro and V magazine. You can’t state one is more interesting than the others, the best way is to take your time, go to a newsagent (better if well-provided, like Mondadori in c.so Vittorio Emanuele) and flip through many of them, choosing what it seems to be most interesting.

6. What are your favorite accessories?
I could never leave my bags, it may seem trivial but it’s true. An outfit without the right bag is just
incomplete, not counting the fact that, without one, I couldn’t carry all of the items I need or I want to have with me.

7. What are your sources of inspiration?
I think that a single source, allowing one to always find items which fit their style, can never exist. I love to hand-pick every item in my outfits, and what I need is to come across as many as possible clothes and accessories. I read many fashion magazines and I daily read a great number of blogs, like Who What Wear and, obviously, Pigchic! I also find my inspiration while walking by the streets, picking items I like in other people’s outfits or browsing shop windows.

8. What beauty products you recommend to readers of Pigchic?
For the care of my face skin, after trying many other products, i finally found the best option to be Capture Totale by Dior. The same make is also my choice when it comes to foundation and mascara, while I prefer Chanel for it’s fabulous lipsticks and eyeliners.

9. What plans you have for the future?
The next step is to graduate on Lettere moderne; then, find a suitable journalism school in the USA and proceed step by step to fullfill my dream of becoming a fashion editor. It’s been less than a week since I started the Fashion Fruit and the inital feedback has already convinced me to be on the right track, I really enjoy what I’m doing and I want to fully commit myself for my wonderful readers. Lei è Veronica Ferraro, vive a Milano, frequenta la facoltà di Lettere presso l’Università Statale di Milano, adora guardare Lost (anche io!) e da poco ha aperto un blog , The Fashion Fruit, che ha già riscosso molto successo.

She is The Glamourai, a young blogger who was born in Texas but lives in New York, that she created about a year ago a very nice blog. She’s a very creative and talented girl, she’s a costant source of inspiration to me.

The name of the blog is inspired by the Japanese Samurai, we could say that she’s the glamorous and modern version of Japanese Samurai!

Today all eyes are focused on fashion bloggers: style icons of the moment from which people draw inspiration or just admire them. Who has not dreamed of becoming a web fashion icon? I did, I admit it. LOL

But many of us think of not being pretty, not being interesting, not having the right style and so on. These thoughts are absolutely wrong! Each of you can become a fashion icon, you just want it! Here’s a little guide on how to become a fashion icon. Are you ready? Let’s start!

At first you don’t need a closet full of designed clothes to be trendy enough to have creativity and desire to dare, the designed clothes are just something extra. In fact the most famous web fashion icon mix low cost items with high cost items and are admired because their style is affordable for everyone!

Rather than buy designed clothes, buy designed accessories such as shoes and especially bags.

Subscribe to fashion magazines like Marie Claire and Elle (I love them!) and visit the most quoted fashion blog. A real fashion icon is always updated on the latest trends.

Take care of your beauty (clothes are not everything!) and follow the latest trends but don’t forgot to adding a personal touch.

Choose clothes that highlight your body shape and not the reverse. Don’t be afraid to change your look! Get a cool new haircut and buy new clothes. Be bold and try something different. It’s fun to try a new look, especially if you feel in a bit of a rut with the clothes in your wardrobe. And don’t listen to what people say!

Ok, now you are ready to be fashion icons.

Oggi tutti gli occhi sono puntati sulle fashion bloggers, icone di stile del momento da cui trarre ispirazione o semplicemente da ammirare. Ora chi non ha mai sognato di diventare una web fashion icon apprezzata e seguita da tutta la rete? Io si, lo ammetto

Eppure molte di noi pensano di non essere abbastanza carine, di non essere interessanti, di non avere lo stile giusto e così via. Questi pensieri sono assolutamente sbagliati! Ognuna di noi può diventare una fashion icon basta solo volerlo! Ecco una piccola guida su come diventare fashion icon.

Innanzitutto non serve un guardaroba griffato per essere alla moda, basta avere creatività e voglia di osare; i capi firmati sono solo qualcosa in più. Le più famose web fashion icon mixano capi low cost con capi griffati e sono apprezzate proprio perché il loro stile è alla portata di tutti!

Piuttosto che sui capi firmati puntate sugli accessori griffati: scarpe e soprattutto borse.

Abbonatevi alle riviste di moda (assolutamente consigliati Flair, Elle e Marie Claire), preziose guide di stile, e consultate i siti di moda più quotati . Una vera fashion icon è sempre aggiornata sulle ultime novità e tendenze.

Investite sulla cura della vostra bellezza. I vestiti non sono tutto, non dobbiamo mai dimenticarci di noi stesse. Seguite la moda e le ultime tendenze aggiungendo sempre un tocco personale.

Scegliete capi che mettano in risalto il vostro corpo e non il contrario. Infine non abbiate paura di cambiare look! Provate un nuovo taglio di capelli e rinnovate il vostro guardaroba! Osate e sperimentare nuovi look e soprattutto non date retta ai commenti delle persone, spesso sono dettati dall’invidia!

Ok, ora siete pronte per essere delle vere fashion icon!

Some people have a weakness for men in uniform and other people like me have a weakness for men in suits and ties. So I could not love the costumes of A single man, the film directs by Tom Ford .

The film is based on the novel A Single Man by Christopher Isherwood and has Colin Firth as protagonist, who with those black glasses and those Arianne Phillips’s dresses is so elegant and sexy.

I remember that when I learned that Tom Ford would direct a film I was very skeptical about the outcome. But today, after watching the promo, I changed my opinion. The irreverent Tom, famous for his adv very hot, has given a touch of glamour that’s missing in almost all films.

I’m looking forward to seeing the movie and watching the costumes of the protagonists!

C’è chi ha un debole per gli uomini in divisa e chi come me adora quelli in giacca e cravatta. Per questo motivo non potevo non apprezzare gli abiti del film A Single Man con lo stilista Tom Ford come registra.

Il film è tratto dal romanzo Un uomo solo di Christopher Isherwood e ha come protagonista l’affascinante Colin Firth che, con quegli occhiali dalla montatura spessa e i vestiti firmati Arianne Phillips, acquista ancora più fascino e sex appeal.

Mi ricordo che quando avevo saputo che Tom Ford avrebbe diretto un film ero molto scettica sul risultato. Oggi invece, guardando il promo, ho cambiato idee. L’irriverente Tom, famoso per le sue campagne pubblicitarie very hot, ha saputo dare quel tocco di glamour in più alla trama che manca nella maggior parte dei film.

Non vedo l’ora di andare a vedere il film e gustarmi i costumi di scena dei protagonisti!

I met Melissa a month ago in Milan, and while we were eating two delicious sandwiches we chatted about fashion, travels and future projects. Besides being bright and friendly, Melissa has also a true “taste of glamour” and a passion for clothes and accessories. All these qualities enabled her to enter on our column Style icon.

There are a few movies that I watch over and over again, especially “The Royal Tenenbaums”,a 2001 dramedy film directed by Wes Anderson about an eccentric family.

I love this movie and in particular I love Margot, a famous writer married with a boring doctor and secretly in love with her stepbrother.

I like not only the plot and margot’s character , but also her preppy style. Polo shirts, loafers, blazers, fold skirts, fur coats and Hermes bags are the leitmotivs which characterise the outfits of Margot.

If you haven’t done, please watch the movie and why not, draw inspiration from Margot’s style. I’ ve fallen in love with her fur coat and I’d like to buy one similar but eco-friendly and shorter. Do you know where I can find it?

Ci sono pochi film che guarderei più e più volte e fra questi un posto speciale merita I Tenenbaum, un film del 2001 diretto da Wes Anderson, che parla delle vicende di una eccentrica famiglia.

Adoro il film e in particolare adoro Margot, una famosa scrittrice sposata con un noioso medico e segretamente innamorata del fratellastro.

Non è solo la trama e il carattere di Margot a piacermi ma anche il suo stile preppy anni ’70. Polo a righe, mocassini, blazers, gonne a pieghe, pellicce e borse rigorosamente firmate Hermes sono i leitmotivs che caratterizzano gli outfit dell’introversa Margot e che riportano a uno stile e a un’eleganza oramai quasi del tutto scomparsi.

Se non lo avete già fatto vi consiglio di guardare il film e, perché no, di trarre ispirazione dalle mise sfoggiate da Margot durante il film. Io mi sono innamorata della sua pelliccia, vorrei comprarne una simile ma sintetica e più corta. Potete consigliarmi qualche negozio?

She is Gala Gonzales, a Spanish 22-year-old girl, who lives in London, where she studies fashion design atCentral St. Martins. Gala is one of the most popular fashion blogger of the moment, she’s the author of the famousinside am-lul’s closet, a beautiful blog about trend and fashion that I love!.

Thanks to her style and her ability to mix dresses and accessories, Gala has appeared in a lot of fashion magazines, such as Teen Vogue (which spoke about her twice), Elle, Marie Claire and Dirrty Glam.

At the moment she’s working for Linea U by Alfonso Dominiguez and she has just created her first collection: The Music Collection.

Lei è Gala Gonzales, ha 22 anni, è spagnola ma vive e Londra e studia moda presso il Central St. Martins.

Autrice del seguitissimo inside am-lul’s closet , Gala è una delle fashion blogger più apprezzate del momento. Grazie al suo stile e alla sua capacità di mixare capi e accessori in modo perfetto, Gala ha attirato l’attenzione di numerosi magazines, come Teen Vogue (che ha parlato di lei per ben due anni consecutivi), Elle, Marie Claire e Dirrty Glam.

Attualmente lavora per la Linea-U di Alfonso Dominguez e ha appena lanciato la sua prima collezione: The Music Collection.

Roitfeld, un nome una garanzia verrebba da pensare. Figlia della rédactrice en chef di Vogue Paris Carine Roitfeld, Julia sembra aver ereditato lo stile, l’eleganza e la passione per la moda della madre.

Scelta da Jil Sander come testimonial della sua nuova fragranza, Julia oltre ad essere una habitué delle sfilate parigine, è stata la protagonista della campagna pubblicitaria della scorsa estate del brand spagnolo Mango. E non è finita qui perché la giovane rampolla è anche una delle ragazze più contese dai fotografi durante le fashion week al pari di Miroslava Mikheeva Duma e Taylor Tomasi.

Il fotografo The Selby le ha dedicato un servizio fotografico sulla sua casa a New York, la rivista Harper’s Bazaar un editoriale e il sito Style.com un intero archivio fotografico contenente più di 100 immagini.

Ogni sua mise trasuda glamour e fascino. La sua semplicità e il suo gusto per capi e accessori sobri caratterizzati però da qualche dettaglio importante le hanno permesso di farsi strada nel mondo del fashion system attirando l’attenzione di numerosi addetti al mestiere.

Personalmente adoro il suo look e la freschezza che accompagna ogni suo outfit. La trovo estremamente fine ed elegante. La vedrei bene a capo di una rivista, magari a capo di Vogue Paris, chi lo sa.
