Which are the most style inspiring movie of all times?

Which are the most style inspiring movie of all times? I kept wondering the other day and I’ve been trying to give an answer to this question. Aside from the well-known : Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Sex and the city’ and The September Issue here’s a list of fashion movies that I like the most.

Quali sono i più bei film da cui trarre ispirazione in fatto di stile? Me lo sono chiesta giusto qualche giorno fa e oggi ho cercato di dare una risposta. A parte i super conosciti: Colazione da Tiffany, Sex & The City e The September Issue, ecco i “fashion movies” che mi piacciono di più.

Marie Antoniette. The movie, directed by Sofia Coppola, reinterprets queen Marie Antoniette’s court life in a pop version.
The enthralling music, the evocative scenes and the glitzy costumes (the movie actually won an Oscar for Best Costumes back in 2007), really makes Marie Antoniette interesting to watch. Highly suggested.

Marie Antoniette. Il film, diretto da Sofia Coppola, rilegge in chiave pop la vita di corte della regina Maria Antonietta, moglie del re di Francia Luigi XVI. Le musiche trascinanti, le scene avvincenti e gli abiti sfarzosi ed eleganti (Oscar nel 2007 per i migliori costumi), rendono il film davvero bello e interessante. Assolutamente consigliato.
Annie Hall. The movie’s main charachters are Woody Allen as Alvy and Diane Keaton as Annie. It’s basically a flashback ramble on the two’s love story, told by Alvy, who tries to understand how his depression and nerviness may have played a role in their relationship.
The movies needs to be seen both for the lingering moral and for Annie’s androgyn and preppy style, a hugh style icon.

Io e Annie (in inglese Annie Hall). Il film, che vede come protagonisti Woody Allen nei panni di Alvy e Diane Keaton nei panni di Annie, racconta la storia a posteriori del rapporto dei due protagonisti attraverso gli occhi di Alvy, che cerca di capire come la sua depressione e il suo nervosismo possano aver inciso sulla loro storia.
Il film, oltre che per la bellissima morale, merita di essere guardato anche per lo stile androgino e preppy di Annie, una grandissima icona di stile.


Clueless. The movie is vaguely inspired by Jane Austen’s novel Emma, and it pictures Cher, a rich Beverly Hills teenager loved by everyone and the affairs she’ll be involved in. Suggested for offering a take on fashion from the 90ies. To be watched with your girlfriends.

Ragazze a Beverly Hills (in inglese Clueless). Il film è vagamente ispirato al romanzo di Jane Austen, Emma, e parla della vita di Cher, una ricca adolescente di Beverly Hills amata da tutti, e delle vicende amorose in cui sarà coinvolta. Consigliato perché offre uno sguardo sulla moda degli anni’90. Da guardare con le amiche.


(500) Days of Summer. A romantic comedy picturing the love trouble of a young couple and the points of view that people have on private relationships. The movie is cute as the clothes of the main charachter Summer. To watch with your significant other.

(500) giorni insieme (in inglese (500) Days of Summer). Una romantica commedia che racconta le vicende amorose di una giovane coppia e i punti di vista che le persone hanno sui rapporti privati. Il film è carino come carini sono gli abiti indossati dalla protagonista Sole (in inglese Summer). Da guardare insieme al proprio compagno.

Almost Famous. The film tells pictures a young man, William Miller, who dreams of writing for the Rolling Stone magazine and of having the chance to hang out with rockstars. The movie is fun and full of style hints. After it hit the screen the furry coat worn by Kate Hudson was sold out!

Quasi Famosi (in inglese Almost Famous). Il film parla di un giovane adolescente, William Miller, che sogna di scrivere sulla rivista Rolling Stone e avere la possibilità di frequentare l’ambiente delle rock star. Il film è divertente e ricco di spunti in fatto di stile. Dopo la sua uscita, il cappotto con pelliccia indossato da Kate Hudson è andato letteralmente a ruba!
